Rejuvenate in the "green lung" of the city, the Botanical Gardens and browse the neighbourhoods of China Town and Little India, popular districts with plenty of cultural wealth. Discover the technique of "Tarik tea", a drink loved by the inhabitants of the city. Return and overnight at the hotel.
We recommend our travellers to climb the iconic Sky Park at Marina Bay Sands, a platform that dominates the city from its height of 200 meters. Enjoy the 360 degree view of the metropolis.
This morning, start off by exploring the futuristic Gardens by the Bay. Night at the hotel.
You wake up in the early hours of the morning and hop on a jeep that will bring you to the top of Penenjakan Mountain. Wrap up warmly to comfortably wait for the sunrise. The sun peeks out timidly over the horizon, gradually illumimnating the silhouettes of the five volcanoes that sit in the middle of the caldera. You cross the lunar landscape of the sea of sand, and begin the ascent of the famous Mount Bromo. After your well-deserved breakfast, you head east to reach Banyuwangi, where you spend the night. In the night, for those who want to see the mystical blue flames, or in the morning for others, you start climbing Mount Ijen to reach its crater, "kawah" in Indonesian. After an impressive effort you finally see this magical crater, with its mesmerising opaque turquoise lake, as well as its sulphur mines, light yellow points where some workers are busy and from which a thick smoke of the same yellowish colour escapes. You cross the path of these brave porters who carry almost a hundred pounds of sulphur daily on their shoulders. You descend peacefully, pack your bags and take the ferry to the neighbouring island of Bali and head to your accommodation in Pemuteran.
Walking time: 1 hour
No need to wake up at dawn this morning, but a good breakfast is still necessary before your boat trip to Menjangan Island. Put on your fins and snorkel and hop into the water where you will be amazed by the beauty of the local seabed, rich in fish and corals of all shapes and colours. Return to your hotel in the early afternoon. The rest of the day is free and you can relax by the hotel pool.
Today, put on your swimsuit for a relaxing swim in the Banjar Hot Springs! Nestled in lush nature, the natural spring flows at about 38 degrees celcius, to the delight of your muscles! You then visit the only Buddhist temple in Bali, the temple of Brahmavihara. You pass the high lakes of Tamblingan and Buyan before stopping in front of Bratan Lake, where the legendary temple of Ulun Danu sits. You then continue south to Ubud, in the center of the island, where you spend the night.
Towards the north of Ubud is Tegallalang Road, known for its beautiful local handicrafts. It is this road that you take this morning to visit the rice fields of the same name, which seem to be hooked to each other forming a beautiful terrace. Next, visit the site of Gunung Kawi, a temple complex with 11th century rock carvings made in honor of King Anak Wungsu. Finally, watch the Balinese locals purify themselves at the sacred springs of Tirta Empul. Return to the hotel at the end of the day.
Today, you head south and make a first stop in Mengwi. You visit Taman Ayun, a temple complex with impressive Balinese architectural features, including many "merus", the principal shrine of Balinese temples with multi-tiered roofs of different levels that indicate the importance of the temple. Continue south to the coast, where you visit the famous temple of Tanah Lot, perched on its rocky outcrop, accessible by foot at low tide. You then continue to your hotel in Seminyak.
You are free to wander as you wish: Seminyak is full of small restaurants, markets and boutique shops, which allow you to stock up on souvenirs. You can also choose to relax at the hotel pool or on a sunbed on one of the long beaches, sipping a coconut and watching the surfers. Do not miss the sunset!
