Day 5: Ascent of Ijen Volcano

In the night, for those who want to see the mystical blue flames, or in the morning for others, you start climbing Mount Ijen to reach its crater, "kawah" in Indonesian. After an impressive effort you finally see this magical crater, with its mesmerising opaque turquoise lake, as well as its sulphur mines, light yellow points where some workers are busy and from which a thick smoke of the same yellowish colour escapes. You cross the path of these brave porters who carry almost a hundred pounds of sulphur daily on their shoulders. You descend peacefully, pack your bags and take the ferry to the neighbouring island of Bali and head to your accommodation in Pemuteran.

Day 6: Snorkelling on Menjangan Island

No need to wake up at dawn this morning, but a good breakfast is still necessary before your boat trip to Menjangan Island.
